Who is responsible

Tacit is made by Janos Roland Vischi, Switzerland. For any question about your data, write to vischiroland@gmail.com.

What stays on your iPhone

Your profile, goals, food log, weigh-ins, waist measurements, streaks and badges are stored on your iPhone. The widgets read the same data on your device. Reminders are scheduled on your iPhone; no push server is involved.

Food lookups (Open Food Facts)

Most foods are found in a database built into the app, without any network access. When you search online or look up a barcode (scanned or typed), Tacit sends the search text or the barcode number to Open Food Facts, a non-profit food database based in France, to find the food.

• Like any website, Open Food Facts receives your device's IP address.
• Each request names the app and its version, and Tacit's support address (not yours), as Open Food Facts asks every app to do.
• Tacit sends no identifier, no account and nothing else about you.

Open Food Facts' handling of these requests is covered by its own privacy policy.

Camera and photos

Tacit uses the camera, or a photo you pick, to read barcodes and nutrition labels. The text is recognised on your iPhone. Photos are not saved by Tacit and are never uploaded.

iCloud

If iCloud is on, your Tacit data syncs between your devices through your private iCloud database. Only your Apple Account can read it; we have no access. You can turn this off in your iPhone's iCloud settings.

Apple Health

Connecting Apple Health is optional. If you connect it:

• Tacit writes your weigh-ins, waist and the energy, protein, carbohydrates and fat of the food you log.
• Tacit reads your weight (for example from a smart scale) and your active energy, to show the extra calories you burned today. The daily credit worked out from it is kept only on your iPhone.

Health data stays on your devices. Tacit never sends it anywhere, never uses it for advertising or marketing, and never sells or shares it. You can change Tacit's access at any time in the Health app.

Purchases

Tacit Premium is sold and billed by Apple. We receive no payment details and no information about you beyond what Apple's sales reports contain.

Exports

A CSV export is created on your iPhone and goes only where you choose to send it.

Crash reports and beta testing

Tacit contains no crash reporter or analytics code. If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone's settings, Apple may give us anonymous crash reports. If you test a beta through TestFlight, Apple shares with us the name and email address you were invited with, and any feedback, screenshots and crash reports you choose to send.

Keeping and deleting your data

Data on your iPhone is deleted when you delete the app. Data in iCloud stays in your iCloud account until you delete it there (Settings → your name → iCloud). Data written to Apple Health stays in Health until you delete it in the Health app. TestFlight feedback is kept only as long as needed to fix the issues it reports.

Children

Tacit is not directed at children under 13.

Your rights

Under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection and, where it applies, the EU General Data Protection Regulation, you may ask what data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, and complain to a data protection authority. Since the app sends us none of your data, we usually hold none, apart from your waitlist entry (see This website); write to vischiroland@gmail.com and we will answer.

This website

Waitlist

If you join the waitlist, we store:

• your email address;
• when you signed up;
• the language of the page you signed up on;
• the source tag in the link you came from, if there is one (for example ?src=tiktok);
• a note that your address is not yet confirmed.

The list is kept by Resend, Inc., USA, which stores it and sends the emails for us as our processor. We use your address for one email when Tacit launches. Before that, we may send you one email asking you to confirm your address.

We keep your entry until 30 days after the launch, or until you unsubscribe, whichever comes first. To have it deleted sooner, write to vischiroland@gmail.com.

Hosting

The website tacit-software.com is hosted by Vercel Inc., USA. Like any web server, Vercel's servers log each request, for example with your IP address, the time, the page requested and your browser's user agent.

Language choice

When you switch the language, your browser remembers the choice in its local storage (localStorage, key tacit.lang). It stays on your device and is never sent to us or anyone else.

Nothing else

The website sets no cookies and uses no analytics. It loads nothing from other companies; even the fonts come from this website itself.

Resend and Vercel are US companies, so your email address and the server logs may be processed in the USA.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new effective date.
